Test Prep

  • STAAR Prep

Teachers at The Kid Connection are experts in all subjects covered by the STAAR test. Years of experience in not only administering but preparing students for these tests have given us the ability to see that your child is well prepared. Since passing the STAAR test is required for moving on to the next grade level, proper preparation and test taking skills are crucial. We offer this test prep in a packaged form to use by the hour.

We meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm-7pm, but you must call to schedule your hours.

  • SAT Prep

A small investment in SAT test prep can save you an average of $30,000 at many of the most popular colleges that students from high schools around the world choose. Because college admission and scholarship opportunities have become increasingly competitive, you are making the right decision to improve your scores. Because students may take practice tests several times each, we work with our students strategically to help them maximize their scores for college admissions and scholarships. We guide students regarding which test to take and how superscoring works.

All materials are provided for each student, however they do need to bring a notebook, pencil, and calculator to work with. Practice tests are given at the first session, and again toward the end. Practice tests are given to identify areas of strength as well as areas of weakness. From the test results, a plan is created to target areas of need. Homework and notes are sent home after each session.

We offer 1:1 Prep (6 sessions, 60 mins each). Total cost for 6 weeks individual prep is $650.

  • ACT Prep

The ACT is a college admission aptitude test. Students are tested in sections of English, reading, math, and science, with an optional writing section that requires preparation of a short essay. The ACT is scored out of 36 points and usually taken for the first time in the junior or senior year of high school, depending on the student’s classes.

The ACT math section requires the completion of Algebra II. Students who have not completed Algebra II should consider starting with the SAT. Super scoring is a common practice at many colleges. The colleges choose your highest score in each subject. Because the ACT has four subjects, our students often return to classes several times to focus on improving the scores of one or two sections enabling them to reach scholarship or admission requirements.
